Striped Hat with flowers

These were a request from a cousin of mine. She sent me a photo of a hat she liked and this is what I came up with. I really like how these turned out. I love the bright colors. I love the fun flowers. These are the first non-chain-daisy flower that I've ever done and I was seriously surprised at how easy they were. I added an extra row to make them bigger and I am very happy with how they turned out.

Owl Phone Cozy

These are so AWESOME!!!! Seriously, cuter and cuter. This guy is my first and the only one I got to keep. I had a lot of requests for him after I posted him on my instagram so I've made a dozen of these (so far). He works up relatively quick and he's pretty simple too. I get noticed everytime I take my phone out.

Reindeer Cup Cozy

This guy is my new favorite! My daughter (who's 7) thinks Rudolph's fur should be dark brown so she's not a fan but I love him with cream fur. He's the second cup cozy I've made and I'm really starting to love these. They are easy and fun and make great gifts. Isn't he adorable!

Sock Monkey Cup Cozy

This is my very first attempt at a cup cozy. I'm not sure why it took me so long to get into these. I guess I wasn't really into accessories when I first started. Now I love them. They are quicker than the normal projects I do and they make great gifts. Seriously, who wouldn't want this guy stuffed in their stocking? I wasn't paying attention when I put this guys ears on so he is a bit lop-sided... but still adorable  :)IMG_0032IMG_0034

Barefoot Sandals

Last month... ok 2 months ago I posted about winning an awesome contest from Bizzy
Crochet. I completely forgot to link to the patterns I used to make the barefoot sandals included in that post.

These patterns are not mine.
The Stars were originally designed for babies and I am NOT baby sized so I added a few stitches here and there to make it work  :)

Happy Friday the 13th! Skull Hat (free pattern)

Yes I'm the weirdo that spends Friday the thirteenth watching scary movies.
I don't believe in bad luck but I do enjoy watching other people get all paranoid about it. Haha, my facebook feed is full of crazy and that is just the way I like it! Since I am in such a good mood I thought I would share another free pattern with you. I actually made this hat and wrote up the pattern like 2 years ago but I never thought about sharing it until today. I've made several hats so I think the pattern is good but if you see any problems, please let me know.
Ok so I call this a skull hat but what I was really trying to do was make a Jack Skellington hat. I’m a little obsessed with Tim Burton and making this hat was a must for me. Problem is, I’ve raised my kiddos to love Nightmare Before Christmas too so they’ve been stealing my hats… Which is why I've made a lot of them  :)

Supplies:
J hook
3 colors worsted weight yarn (each time I’ve made this hat, I’ve used black, white and an accent color)
Now I did 2 versions, One solid (the green one) and one more “holey” (the teal blue one) The directions I have below are for the more solid one. If you like the look of the other one you simply replace every 2 dc with a 1 dc, ch 1

Example: (keep in mind for example that the beginning ch 2 counts as first dc)
Row 1: (solid) ch 2, 19 dc into circle, sl st to beginning ch 2 (20 st)
Row 1: (with holes) ch 3, 1 dc, ch1 - 9 times into circle, sl st into beginning ch 2 (20 st)

Solid hat will end up feeling a lot wider at the top then the holey one but the bottom of the hat (rim around four head) will measure out the same.

Ok now onto the Solid pattern:
*With color A, ch 5 and sl st into a circle.
Row 1: Ch 2 (counts as first dc here and throughout pattern) dc 19 into circle. sl st to starting ch (end all rows this way) (20 st)
Row 2: ch 2, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around. (40 st)
Row 3: Using color C, ch 2, dc in same st, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. Repeat 1-2-1-2 pattern around (60 st)
Row 4: ch 2, dc in each st around
Row 5: Using color A, repeat row 4
Row 6: Using color B, repeat row 4
Row 7: Using color A, repeat row 4
Row 8-9: Using color C, repeat row 4
Row 10-12: repeat rows 5 through 7 with same colors
FO, weave in ends.
For Skull face:
Using white, make a magic ring
Row 1: dc 15 into ring
Row 2: ch 2, dc into same st, 2 dc in each st after
Row 3: ch 2, dc into same st, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next. repeat 2-2-1-2-2-1 pattern around. FO, pull ring tight and weave in ends.
For eyes (make 2)
Using black, make a magic ring
Row 1: dc 15 into ring
Row 2: ch 2, dc into same st, 2 dc into each st around
FO, pull ring tight and weave in ends

NOTE: on the eyes for the “holey” hat, I only did one row. You can make your eyes big or small, it’s really up to your personal preference.
Sew eyes onto skull. Stitch in nose and mouth with black yarn. Sew skull into place on hat and weave in ends.

I won!

OK I know it’s been a long while since I posted and it’s rude of me to post just to show off… but I can’t help it. I never win things so this is exciting to me plus I wanna give some love to the awesome lady that made me a winner.
Last week I won a free gift basket from Bizzy Crochet. She shipped it to me quickly and I have already begun to play with it. Her site is super fun and you should all go check it out here. Also go find her on facebook!
Check it out:
The basket itself folds up. How cool is that? Plus I LOOOOVE the color! My six year has already called dibs on the book marks (I’m so proud of her and her love of books) IMG_0231
I love that she has her own stitch marker and hook, They are so cute! And I love the bees. And it’s an H hook! My favorite  :)  … not sure why but I’ve been favoring H’s for months so this baby will get some use. IMG_0232IMG_0234IMG_0235IMG_0236
I looked for some fun summer patterns and decided my first project will be a couple of barefoot sandals. I’ve only made them once before and I sent them to a friend so I never got to enjoy them. These are for me! :)

Thanks so much Bizzy Crochet!
And for those of you wondering, no, I have not stopped crocheting. I’ve finished loads of projects and a couple patterns. I just haven’t had time to post. My blog will be back to being busy when the weather gets cold again :)
